Ps. 84:10-11
For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere.
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
For the LORD God is a sun and shield;
the LORD bestows favor and honor.
No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.
I’ve had my fair share of spectacular days in my life. My daughter being born, getting married to Christina in Baton Rouge, seeing the sun come up over the Rockies, watching the sun go down on the Texas Coast, precious days with people I loved that have passed on, watching the stars on a clear Texas night, helping my baby puppies be born at the Ranch, watching and hearing the birds wake up on a cold Hill Country morning as the deer feed. I’ve seen some wonderful things…
But, what the Psalmist is saying here really caught my attention… just one day in the Lord’s presence doesn’t even compare to a thousand of my best days here on earth.
•THATS AN AMAZING THOUGHT.
I’ve had some great days…and I am thankful to God for them, yet this verse puts those earthly days into perspective. •All of my best days combined, and all of your best days combined will not compare to one day in His presence.
That gives me hope of the age to come and also the amazing moments of God’s presence here on earth. Cause I have those moments too. It’s an amazing feeling also.
As believers, Heaven should be a thing we should be looking forward too.
•It’s our ultimate goal and destination as believers.
Eternity awaits, you cannot escape it; the questions is: Where will we end up?
Word tells me this:
2 Cor. 5:8 “Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.”
John 14:1-7 14. “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.” Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”
Charles Spurgeon said: Consider how precious a soul must be, when both God and the devil are after it.
Heaven and Hell are real. Jesus spoke on it multiple times. Don’t ever doubt there is a decision to make; a line is drawn and the choice is yours. Eternity is for real. Our lives will lead into this decision at some point.
•Cause here’s some truth… Nobody is gonna get out of life alive!
•But yet… Life after Death awaits true believers!!!
Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. True eternal life is secured in Jesus Christ; and Christ alone. Choose today.
